Message of Condolence on the Demise of Pope Francis

Below is a message of condolence from the Ahlulbayt Islamic Mission (AIM) to the Vatican and the followers of the Catholic faith around the world:

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

AIM extends its sincere condolences to the Catholic Church and its followers around the world on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Pope Francis was a distinguished advocate for peace and justice. Throughout his papacy, he remained steadfast in his call for an end to conflict and suffering. In one of his final acts of conscience—just yesterday—he renewed his urgent call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, condemned the massacres being carried out against civilians, and demanded the facilitation of humanitarian aid, describing the continuation of the war and bloodshed as “shameful”. His frank positions calling for an end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza until the last moments of his life, embody the sincerity of his call and his commitment to human values that reject injustice anywhere.

In addition to that, his efforts for dialogue in his historic meeting in 2021 with His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani was a significant moment in the advancement of faith relations, built on mutual respect and a shared vision of peace, dignity, and human fraternity.

As we reflect on his passing, we honour a legacy of moral clarity and courageous leadership that transcended religious boundaries, and sought an end to war and bloodshed. May his example continue to inspire all people of faith to uphold truth, justice, and the sanctity of life.

“O mankind, indeed We created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.”
(Qur’an 49:13)
