‘Be compassionate towards the destitute.’ The Holy Prophet (S)

News reports and images coming out of Haiti are excruciating to watch as the nation’s people continue to live in distress. The death toll continues to rise as relief and recovery efforts find their way through the crippled infrastructure of the small island.

The 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated southern Haiti on 12 January 2010 has united volunteers from across the world to work side-by-side to help the quake victims. The World Federation in partnership with The Africa Federation, the Council of European Jamaats and NASIMCO has launched the HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND to provide some respite to the humanitarian crisis that has unfolded.

WF EXECUTIVE COUNCILLOR DR MOHSIN JAFFER HELPS COORDINATE RELIEF EFFORTS
Efforts are now underway to determine how best to help the people of Haiti in their time of need. The World Federation is working with Dr. Mohsin Jaffer, Executive Councillor of The World Federation and NASIMCO who has been involved in coordinating relief efforts in South Florida, which has now become the focal point of all national efforts to help Haiti.

On Sunday 17 January 2010, Dr. Mohsin Jaffer reported that a meeting took place with most of the South Florida Muslim organisations that have united to help the victims. A task force committee has been formed to organise the distribution of basic provisions. In addition, the committee is well aware of the potential misuse and waste of monetary donations and will due its due diligence to determine how and where these donations should be spent.

Dr. Mohsin Jaffer said: “At present the logistics of sending personnel and materials is difficult due to the clogged airport (only one runway is functioning) and damaged port. There are 3 mosques in Haiti. On Friday 15 January 2010, the group arranged a blood donation drive which was very successful. Muslims in South Florida were some of the first responders to this tragedy.”

More information with full details for donations is available from the World Federation and Nasimco websites.

Haiti has faced two centuries of oppression from American and French colonialism and imperialism. The Haitian slaves revolt in 1804 to overthrow the brutal French colonialists, but then France and the US both worked together to blockade Haiti for decades. The US did because Blacks were still enslaved in the American South, and the American government didn't want to recognize a nation of African slaves (Haiti) that could give ideas or hope for African slaves in the US to revolt against their brutal white American slave masters. The French also forced Haiti, under threat of military invasion, to pay "reparations" to France (again all for the African slaves in Haiti freeing themselves! The US then militarily occupied Haiti from 1915 to 1934, it was in 1915 that US President (racist) Woodrow Wilson sent in the US Marines to occupy Haiti. The US would steal much from Haiti. The US then backed the Duvalier dictatorships in Haiti that were in place from the 1950s through much of the 1980s. The US backed these 2 brutal dictators Francois "Papa Doc" Duvalier and Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier, because Papa Doc and Baby Doc were pro-American stooges that claimed to be "anti-Communist". The US trained the Duvalier's brutal "Tonton Macoute" death squads which killed upwards of 10,000 Haitian civilians over many decades, also the US-installed/backed Duvalier dictator's ran up much "debt" and stole much of the Haitian people's resources. Again the US backed the Duvalier (Papa Doc and Baby Doc) dictator's in Haiti as a counterweight to Revolutionary "Communist" Socialist Cuba (under Fidel Castro). The US then overthrew the democratically elected Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide two times! First in 1992 and most recently "President" George W. Bush (and the CIA) overthrew elected President Aristide in 2004. Aristide was targeted by the imperialist US because he (Aristide) was a good Haitian nationalist (caring for Haiti's poor masses) and was in favor of Socialist policies of social uplift and the throwing out of foreign imperialist (Western) agents.

Also Muslim nations have done much to help Haiti with aid and rescue teams (the US corporate anti-Muslim media has largely ignored this aid). Iran sent 30 tons of humanitarian aid by airplane to Haiti. Turkey sent many tons of humanitarian aid, donated money, and has sent Turkish rescue teams (with a mobile hospital) to Haiti and these Turkish teams have rescued many Haitians. Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have sont tons of aid and the UAE has formed an "air bridge" to sent tons of humanitarian aid and assistance. The nation of Jordan has sent 2 planes of aid and also has sent a field hospital to Haiti. Qatar has sent 50 tons of humanitarian aid and a 26 man medical team to establish a field hospital in Haiti (under the command of Qatari Captain Mubarak Sherida al-Kaabi). Egypt has sent aid, so has Lebanon. Also in north Africa Morocco donated aid and $1 million in aid, Algeria has also sent aid to Haiti. Pakistan has sent aid, Bangladesh has sent aid and team of around 30 Bangladeshi medical and rescue workers to Haiti to volunteer. Indonesia has sent humanitarian aid and an Indonesian medical and rescue team to Haiti. The list goes on and includes aid from Syria, Kosovo, Albania, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and many others. Most remarkably the brave and oppressed Palestinian people of Gaza have donated money and humanitarian aid to the Haitian people (despite the Zionist "Israeli" imposed siege on Gaza).

The US in reality has also most sent military to occupy Haiti with guns and weapons. US has even been caught using their control of Haiti's airport to divert humanitarian aid from other countries in favor of allowing more US military equipment in: while Haitians suffer. This is just like after Katrina, there is no violence in Haiti (like in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina) but the racist US media gives that as an excuse for the US occupation military to come in with M-16s and other weapons to alleged "control" the Black masses. Obama is an Uncle Tom, and the US wants military bases and knows that there have been recently discovered large untapped oil reserves in Haiti (that the US wants to steal). Cuba and Venezuela, US enemies and allies of Iran, have done more real aid for Haiti then US. Socialist Cuba already had around 400 of their good doctors and medical personnel in Haiti before the quake giving full time health care to the poor Haitian masses; all for free. Also most good native Haitian doctors and medical personnel have been trained and educated in Cuban medical schools (like the renowned ELAM Cuban medical school) again for free. Socialist Cuba does all of this despite still being under an evil 50 year imperialist US embargo designed by the US to hurt Cuba's economy. This embargo of Cuba is punishment by the US imperialists for Cuba being free and having overthrown the US backed puppet tyrant dictator Fulgencio Batista back in the 1959 Cuban Revolution.

Give aid to Haiti through any Islamic group you can find like the group mentioned here or groups like ISNA or Islamic-Relief (from the UK I believe). Salamu alaikum.

US has billions for wars and Zionists but only comparative pennies of Haiti. The US has promised an alleged "$100 million", but this is peanuts compared to the untold billions of dollars the US spends on wars and "aid"/gifts to the Zionist "Israelis". In reality $100 million is only about 1% of what the US military spends to unjustly occupy Iraq and Afghanistan for 1 month. The recent US military "surge" of 30,000 more US soldiers to continue killing and occupying Afghanistan will cost the US $30 billion just this year. Obama stated this; "Our new approach in Afghanistan is likely to cost us roughly USD 30 billion for the military this year, and I'll work closely with Congress to address these costs as we work to bring down our deficit," the US President said.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said the following about America and its military industrial complex; "A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom."
